| A few hours to spare Down on the river for only the second time, still getting the last of the snow melt, so the water temps were way down. The place looks desolate, like a watery desert, very bleak. Didn`t hold much hope, but was pleasantly surprised at picking off a !/2doz. small trout although all to wets (gave up with the dry after an hour. Using an 8``0"3/4wt rod, Lamson Konic 3/4wt reel with a 3wt Dusky pink (don`t ask)floating line and a 3lb fluoro.leader. Red ribbed Spider top and Gold head S/T point(S/T took all the fish). On my 18th last cast I hooked the biggest of the afternoon, a brownie just on the 1/2lb mark, decided I wasn`t going to better that, so packed up and here I am.![]() ![]() ![]() It was nice to get back on the river again though. (pics are from phone camera, two pics are same fish, it blinked in the first one lol)) |

| Re: A few hours to spare I thought you had given up fishing Peter - what with the new season not long started and no reports from you - until now ..lol. Glad to see you out and about again - with a nice 1/2 lb brown trout too, nice one. At least its warmer down here in the south at the moment - and it will be nice to see some greenery on those river banks and trees now spring is on the way. Looking forward to your future reports... | Re: A few hours to spare Hi jeff, water was ice cold today, nothing moving at all, although all you could hear were woodpeckers hammering away . Water level was at a good height, but as I said freezing. Magners starts in a week or so in earnest, that is weather permitting. Look forward to how you get on. ![]() Hi Baz, had a couple of kitchens to fit ,for a mate then his for neighbour + weather put the block on the start of the season, today was only my second time out. Free to make up for lost time now though. ![]() Hi Steve, you go to the game? Brazil were lucky I thought ![]() |
