Clyde Estuary hilltop fishing

Here are a few pics, from my first day`s fishing since October.
Decided to visit what is my favourite fishery on the West Coast , at Skelmorlie. Train from Glasgow to Wemyss Bay, taxi to Upper Skelmorlie, then a 2 mile hike (all uphill lol). Chose C&R, as this visit was more about casting than fish (although I did miss 3 good bites).4 hours of long, short and presentation casting were the order of the day, although I did stop for about an hour for lunch and to admire the scenery, even though it was a bit overcast.

Isle of Bute (Rothesay)in the distance and the Kyles of Bute.
The water was frozen 4 days ago and still had some ice at the edges.
On a clear summer`s day the views are amazing, water is normally white with yachts.
Enjoyable day out, wrist a bit sore. but looks good for the start of the season on the river.

The nearest im going to get to that sort of scenery is skegness beach .

Hi Mitch, the scenery is out of this world, it was a bit grey and misty on Tuesday, but still worth it.

which country is this you talk of Peter ???

on another note , do you know of a great big lump of water near Hamilton ? fished there with devon minnows as a kid visitin my aunty mags .. big resevoir i think ?

Hi Steve, wouldn`t be Strathclyde park would it? (used to be called the Low parks). I think it used to be part of the Duke of Hamilton`s Estate.

could well have been , sounds familiar .. im going back to late 80's early 90's .. i remember it bein mahoosive and full of trout fry i think
