| my first fly fishing day (but not my last) Well my girlfriends brother has been in town so he took me for a fly fishing lesson as i am new to fishing in general and only have sea fishing gear. He lent me a rod and reel and we hopped in the car an headed for Tavistock Trout Lakes in Devon. The lake owners made us feel very welcome with free tea and coffee and a summer room for relaxing in after or during the day. First up was a casting lesson so i knew how to get the fly on the water. After 20 mins or so a fly was added and i was told to cast out and jig the fly back to simulate the movement of a fly on the lake. Well after 10 hours and with fading light we decided to head home, we had landed 3 rainbow trout with a combined weight of 18lb none of which were mine but i had had several bites and even got a rainbow within netting distance before it escaped. When we returned home to eat the fish we caught (which tasted all the better for catching it ourselfs). All in all a good day was had and i am looking forward to my next trip. Mike     |

| Re: my first fly fishing day (but not my last) Good luck with those trout Mike I was lucky enough to catch one on my 1st visit, i've been hooked since then but still new at it myself. Stick with it, it'll come... __________________ So many types of fishing ... so little free time... |
