Late afternoon/Evening on the river

Decided to go for a stroll down the river, just happened to have my rod and waders. Part of the river runs parallel to a golf course and as I haven`t been there for a while, I decided to give it a try. I worked upstream with a dry ( Olive Klink and white F fly #14s), picking off the odd small trout here and there for about a mile. Then changed over to a couple of spiders and fished back down past the golf ball tree to the gates.
INSIDE THE GOLF BALL TREE.

The record for the tree stands at 23 golf balls.Today I got 11.

All in all, a nice wee evening out. Peter

Re: Late afternoon/Evening on the river

Hi Justin, the wild life here is great, but I unfortunately deleted the one I wanted to post of a vixen and her cubs at the water`s edge. The camera I`m using for these is a compact Fuji WP Z (waterproof to 4 metres), my wife bought me for my birthday. I haven`t used the underwater function yet, maybe in June in the Med. Peter

Sounds good Peter, i used to take my dad's D-SLR with me, used to take good shots all the time, just never get round to it anymore! i really must start again. The underwater shots will be interesting, i took a few with my phone last week and seen the roach in my local lough! i must figure someway to upload them.

Justin

Re: Late afternoon/Evening on the river

Hi pete,
you got some great water by u ,
a couple of trips down there sell them golf balls ticket paid for.
The good thing about being on a river is the wildlife u see its abit more urban
were i fish, yet ive still seen otters , kingfishers, dippers, plenty of mink, and even barn owl
when fishing late for bass.
Good luck on your friday session with your mate.

Jeff

Re: Late afternoon/Evening on the river

Thanks Cockoo, just lucky I guess to be in the right place at the right time, but cheers for your comments. Peter.

Hi Justin, SLRs are excellent, I used the Nikon D5000 for some of the snow shots.
Hope you do post some photos. Peter

Hi Jeff, River wildlife really is a bonus, it`s amazing even as you say in urban areas too. I think I`ll suggest the golf course for the venue on Friday, as I noticed quite a few deeper pools last night.. Peter
