Ebbw trout

Managed to pop down the river yesterday for an hour
before the rain came lashing down again.
Arrived at the pool water was up with a nice green tinge to it.
Seen a fish rise so put on a dry parachute type fly on and cast to
were i seen the rise .
Nothing showed any interest as i cast my fly around the pool.
Decided ti put a buggy looking dry on made out of deer hair and orange foam
so i could tie a nymph to the bend of the dry about a foot under the surface.
MAde a couple of casts up stream when all of a sudden a fish took the dry
which i wasnt expecting and gave me a nice little battle up and downthe pool.
The fish wasnt very big but the colours bright red spots , gold, and the blue on its face were cracking.


Did manage 1 more to the nymph, small but perfect brown.

We needed this rain as the rivers were getting to low and clear
hopefully it will stop soon.

Nice fish mate, where on the ebbw are you fishing? i am in abertillery, but do my fishing between llanhilleth and cwm, river running a bit high at present hope to get out this week. ps new to this forum, this my first post.

Caught them down crumlin just down the road from u.
Im a member of Islwyn anglers and got alot of water on the Ebbw
great fishing. New members taken on now excellent fishing up pen-y-fan to
not far from you.
