Brown trout - River Earn. Comrie Over the last 3 summers I have spent a week fishing the earn at Comrie in late July. Have caught sea trout, escaped rainbows and even some grayling. Apart from some some small brownies no sign of anything decent. Has anyone fished here and do you know if there is much by way of wild brown trout around and best tactics to find them in this stretch - thye must be there somewhere?

Re: Brown trout - River Earn. Comrie i fish the earn quite alot mate. i dont usually use a fly rod though i have just recently started. i fish about half way up along the banks. ive only had 3 fish on the fly and they were all in one day on a bloodworm. i cast out about 10ft and just slowly retrieved on a floating line with about a 6ft dropper. hope this helps :)

Re: Brown trout - River Earn. Comrie There is no such thing as a wild rainbows in the Earn they are all escapee's and probably one of the reason's that the trout fishing is not better On the up side its not that bad, there is the chance of the odd decent fish but they tend to average the 8oz-1lb mark. One of the local school boys had a 7lb brownie off the Comrie water this year There are plenty of grayling and to a decent size. As for tactics nymphs and upstream spiders seem to do better than dries but they do have thier day as well. Willie;-) __________________ Guide on Trout Fishing
