| Re: Boobies the only way to disgorge a boobie is to kill the fish, they go all the way down to the tail, so thats why they are banned from c & r waters.     |

| Re: Boobies Do not agree rubbish flydog, 99% off my fish on the boobie are lip caught, if you leave it there yes but if you keep it movin when you feel the pluck lip caught everytime. 99% of lures get swallowed, even if you leave it static for long enough it will swollow it same as most fish. Tip, alot off anglers dont debarb there hook they think they will loose the fish, i debarb and i havnt lost a fish yet incl a wild brownie at 2lb12oz and 400 others i had. Keep a tight line and FISH ON everytime and seconds the fish is returned ALIVE. Its banned in some places because at this time of year its in one word DEADLY on a short leader and fast sinking line. I caught a fish on this i caught it on the dry who gives a monkeys as there is no difference on a boobie and a hairs ear tied on the same size of hook. My biggest rainbow is 18lb 6oz and i caught bit on a size 22 grey duster dry fly, but i have also caught many on the boobie and the minkie. They all have hooks in them if they catch use it if allowed. I had 42 rainbows on a lure one day and those on the dry had NO FISH. Tight lines. Paul |

| Re: Boobies As i said flydog static they swallow keep it on the move 9 times out of ten they dont. Plus debarb your hook tight line FISH ON. I put it down to angler error. Anyway thats only for the poor old rainbow that doesnt have much to feed on in winter, not to many flies about. I fish a private club river that moves, for salmon and wild brownies march1st-oct20th and i fly,spin and worm in the rules and i debarb with no losses. If one doesnt debarb when worm fishing fish dead,but debarb and use a forceps 3 seconds hook nis removed on ALL fish returned alive. Regarding swallowing down to the tail thats rubbish, you will always see the hook and if it does swallow a boobie its only 4inches tops down its throat which is easily removed and thats why i say DEBARB HOOKS for rainbows catch and release. I proved this piont to a private owner and out of 12 fish i caught on the boobie, 11 fish were lip caught and the other 3 inches in its mouth. Good luck to you to,stud |

| Re: Boobies Sorry 1fisher mate, my manners as you asked a very polite question on boobies and my reply was not ment at you, go to a place that does allow it some dont, but i adapt thats my secret weapon. Anyway lets say you are allowed at this time of year the fish are down deep ie on the bottom,so get a single boobie thin bodied and tie on a leader 8lb leader if there are fish 10lb upwards about 3 foot long and tie it on your loop on your fly line, fast sinking fly line at this time of year, now let it sink to the bottom and give it a pull now and then, but when you feel that 1st pluck move it in sharp gerks but keep it moving FISH ON lip caught, remember debarb your fly keep a tight line but if the fish wants to run let it run. You will know why its banned in alot of places it catches alot of fish also here is a huge tip and i dont care you reads this but it is true, 1st thing in the morning rainbows get fed pellets by the owner, as i said not to many flies buzzin at this time of year,so if you dont get a bite for a few hours thats why and if you do see were they get fed fish there stand back cast FISH ON. If not allowed to use a boobie use a suspended buzzer same way,funny that one as one has one foam eye the other has one rubbish really. Anyway young man, there is so much to learn. TIP, go rainbow fishing in the worst weather not when the sun is shining as they dont have eyelids ie dull day cloudy with a nice breeze and you will catch alot more fish. | Re: Boobies I must admit about 85% of any trout I've caught on boobies are fairly deeply hooked even when I'm moving faily rapidly. I personally prefer weighted nyphs using a figure of eight retrieve for deeper fishing of this nature. Just my two cents worth. |

| Re: Boobies If you look at my post "photos" i was fishing a fishery that doesnt allow boobies,marabou,lures,8lb leader min and i had 6 fish for 52lb. All fish were caught on a buzzer. On fisherys that do allow it if you are useing a boobie and they are swallowing it you are not fishing it right. When you feel pluck move it fast and strike, concentrate hard and you will never catch a rainbow that has swallowed a boobie. Another deadly method is intermediate line 7 foot leader and a gold head hairs ear. There is no difference between both flies, only lightly dressed thats the secret and i mean lightly dressed, and not like some boobies that look like they are a christmas tree. You can fish a suspended buzzer same way on the bottom short leader. 99% of insects start there life on the bottom. DEBARB your hooks, and that is a huge difference why rainbows and wild trout die not been DEBARBED. Keep line tight, i havnt lost a fish yet, and all my fish go back that i dont keep for the table alive.All flies,spinners,worming etc have all got one thing in commen they all have a or hooks attached, so the stress that a fish feels believe you me has already felt it as soon as its been hooked. Stick a hook in your lip and get another person to pull you around the room for say 2 min see how you feel. Its bo..ocks i use this i use that. I caught 16 rainbows on the dry and a buzzer as a dropper in jan last year and i did bcause i adapted, sometimes that will work some days that will work. Debarb your hooks always for trout as if you catch 1@ a few ounces you can return it safely and will pull one in @ 10lb. Angler error. Buy a dvd of hywel morgan and watch him fishing the boobie as he like me fishes it the right way, lip caught always. 85% is angler error on your part.    |
