woodington fishery, wellow 5/4/08 well i woke up early saterday morning and saw the was not much wind but had no rag worm , so i head over to woodington fishery for a bit of fluff chucking with my new rod i got on e-bay, i got there for 7.30 ish, got my self a 2 fish and catch and release ticket. i started with a catswisker which was ment to be the nuts at the moment, but it did not work for me and i tryed all sorts of flys for 3 hours with no luck then i changed to a montana and had a take instantly, and 10 minutes after i had the first trout in the net of about 3lb. then i had another one 5 minutes after of about 3 1/2lb and then 1 more of 1 1/2lb just b4 i left which was on the catch and release part of the ticket. happy with my efforts i then packed up to head home go to the pub for the football, ![]() __________________ http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...xt80382370.gif

Re: woodington fishery, wellow 5/4/08 great rod, it was a orvis clear water 2, it made casting so much easyer than my grays g-seires. im still very new to fly fishing but im real keen to get out in the summer and try for some mackerel, garfish ,shads and loads of bass on the fly. __________________ http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...xt80382370.gif

on my local river saturdays tide is better but the misses is working nights. the elvers are running so give it go if you got a small tidal river near you the bass will be gauging on them. all the best Flyman. ![]() |

Re: woodington fishery, wellow 5/4/08 nice one i fish the hamble river very regularly. but its dead at the moment, with only the odd bass showing, but with what you are saying i do wonder if the bass are pre-ocupied with the elevers. do you need to fish in the brackish waters or will the elvers be every where down to the mouth???? __________________ http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...xt80382370.gif

Re: woodington fishery, wellow 5/4/08 I fish these small tides about hour and half before hi water near the top of the tidal reaches just look out for fish riseing you havent got to use big saltwater flies just any type of sparkler. we was even taking them last year on sise 12 butchers. IT MUST be in the dark were they really keen to take thefly. the water is uselly dirty on the tide but not so bad on these smalltides. flyman

Nice brace of Rainbows John & a nice Rod too. I swear by Orvis kit. My favourite Fly rod is my Orvis Silver Label 9' 6# It's light as a feather & has a brilliant action. Caught me lots of fish too...
