linconshire smoothounds, 1st trip

me,sean and karl made our way across the humber bridge to the beaches of linconshire on sat night at 5pm to begin our smoothound campain, the weather was right, we was all looking forward to a good nights sport

we arrived at chapel 6 marsh at 6pm, a few rods down there already but on talking to 1 chap there had only been 1 flounder caught
a quick run down to chapel point, where the humber club match was been held, talking to a angler who said there had only been 1 small hound and a flounder caught

we didnt feel to optomistic at this point but we set up for the night anyway as the match anglers left the beach.

i set up and baited a trace with half a crab and launched it as far as possible into the flat calm sea.
whilst rigging up my 2nd rod, i noticed my line had dropped slack
i picked the rod up and felt a hefty pull, i struck into it and had the 1st hound of the night on

safely on the beach she went 6lb 8oz

with that karl had shouted over that he had a fish on , so me and sean went over for a look
after a short tussle he had a hound 6lb 4oz

at this point sean had not actually got a rod in the water yet...as we had only been there about 10 mins....

on walking back to my rod i saw it buck over in the rest so i lept on it and struck
hound no.2 on....

around 5.5lb

the next few hours down to low water was very quiet
until i was bobbing of on my box and i heard the screams ov a over-excited sean, he had hooked a fish on a hermit crab bait, cast 100yds

sean was over the moon with his 1st sizable hound
it went 7lb 2oz on the scales, well done m8
i think now like us he knows why we spend all summer chasing these fish

after a few missed bites thru the night it was quiet up until 1st light, where sean hooked another hound (he didnt even see the bite, i had to tell him...lol)
he got the hang of beaching them safely, well in m8

it went about 6lb 6oz, seans hound number 2

we all had a small flurry of bites and fish, i picked up another 2 hounds to 6.5lb as did karl

all in all a great trip with great company, cheers ladds
the weather detarioted during the night and left us with a strong SW wind, that was very hard to fish comfortably in, but we did ok all things considerd i think

P.S
acko came down for a few hours aswell.......i'll say no more but he lived up to his nickname of fishcake!!....lol
