Well what i mean by this is.....using the telephone wire instead of crimps!! what you nead to do is make some up by finding some telephone wire and twisting it round a grip lead wire so you make litle coils right!! then slid them onto your line and twist to tighten them up to hold your beads and swivel in place!! they are easy to make and use and dont damage your rig at all so less chance of a brake off!! you with me? |

Re: smoothounds from the shore Right mate!! you know the green boxes you get at the side of the road for all the phone lines down a road or something!! the wire out of them is perfic!! when they are working on them they often cut bits out and leave them on the pavment, so all you have to do is keep your eyes open and try to find some!! and no you dont have to strip it!! they make a perfic crimp to hold your trace in place and like i said before its easy to move your trace up and down you rig when needed!!

Re: smoothounds from the shore Nice tip OJ, I hate using crimps as I usually mess them and the line up but I know a BT engineer so will try to get some wire.

Re: smoothounds from the shore I think the rig OJ is talking about is called a 'clipped up-and-over', absolutely ideal for using in a strong tide situation, keeps your snood hugged close to the bottom, I use em for cod but usually use six foot snoods, you have to be careful when beaching a fish though, as the long snood with a fish on can catch you out! Telephone wire is a good tip, but an even better tip is to use power gum, power gum is fab for tying stop knots, all my rigs are tied up using power gum stop knots...

Re: smoothounds from the shore super gum?? is that something which can be brought from the local tackel shop??? __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's

Re: smoothounds from the shore Yes mate you can pick that up from any good tackle shop!!! the only reason i would use the phone wire is that you can change the depth of your rig in seconds! not shaw if you can do the same with power gum but it is good stuff!
