bassalisk is on a distinguished road
Question weymouth/dorset area shore tope?

i'm just writing a note to see if any of you have any advice on fishing for tope from the shore in the weymouth area or the surrounding shorelines. The main reason is because as i was fishing a mark for bass on the eastern shore last october i had two takes which practically emptied the spool and then as i tried to increase the pressure the line parted almost immediately. i was using mackerel flapper fished at about 70 yds out over a sandy bottom on a fairly secluded beach. Does this ring any bells? This October i'm going to try and target them. Does anybody have any other spots? i have heard that Chesil occasionally turns up the odd one, what about Portland rock marks?
any advice is welcome thanks
