| Smut rigs? Selsey beach! Hello, all I am coming to Selsey up from Weymouth in July for a club fishing comp I hear Selsey is good for smuts, whats the best rig to use for smut any help would be great. I am probably gonna use a mix of Peeler,Black Lug, Squid, sandeels and Rag and are there any spots on the beach better than other many thanks !  __________________ 1 2 3 4 5 once I caught a fish alive, 6 7 8 9 10 then I let him go again.... SPECIES SO FAR:Bream,Bass,Ballen Wrasse,Mackerel,Mullet,Whiting,Lesser Weaver,Pouting,Pollock,Poor Cod,Silver Eel.     |

| Re: Smut rigs? Selsey beach! size 3/0 in a wide gape - pennel for bigger crab baits .. I would leave the lug,sandeel and squid at home unless its a species comp because otherwise on 10 lb smutt is gonna outdo your 12 small bream  Peeler and hermits will take the smutts and the bass .. Selsey wont produce anything big other than that - its not known for rays or eels .. | Re: Smut rigs? Selsey beach! try and get a bit more info on where your actually fishing mate - west or East beach - its like the sun and the moon ! they are totally different but both 'Selsey' .. | Re: Smut rigs? Selsey beach! when i lived at bursledon,i use to fish selsey west beach,up and over,as said 3/0 pennel peeler as bait.Fished east a few times,ive not much,but others have,My best off west beach was 13lb, |
