Which set up is best for a newbie??

Hi all,
Just registered so a new user and 1st post!!!

After being on holiday just outside Berwick on tweed i've discovered the delights of fly fishing on the river whiteadder and I'm hooked!!!(parden the pun!!!) I'm looking to upgrade my rod/reel etc as it's a £40 beginner set that I'm using!!!( saying that I caught 2 lovely rainbow trout with it at my local fishery, still got the smile on my face!!!) was toying between the greys grxi+ with reel to match, the greys xflite or the greys xf2 both with reels to match?? Any help, advice or suggestions would be gate fully received !!!

Many thanks
Steven

Re: Which set up is best for a newbie??

Hi Steven, welcome.
depends how much you want to spend really but personally my favourite is my Sharpe's of Aberdeen Belmont #7, it's a great all rounder and has the most beautiful reel seat you will ever see.
Some people prefer the more expensive Sharpe's Gordon (£176) or about £140 on ebay.
Let me know how much you want to spend, what type of waters you want to fish and I'll recommend a good set up for you.

Best thing to do with any rod from course to sea fishing is get down the shops and have a feel and see what you get on with, I have wychwood quest rods 2 10ft #7's and a 9ft #5 with the truefly sla reels fantastic setup but I did test out all there range before picking which rod I wanted
