Wink Types of Buzzers

Please could someone advise me on what type of Buzzer(s) would be best to use Mid June.
I will be fishing a still water in South West Wales that is stocked with Rainbows I hope, I fished it last year, but not a great success as it hadn't been restocked for quite a while.
I am hoping it will be different this year.
I used Black and Green Buzzers mainly, had some success but could have been better.
Could you also reccomend a good place to buy flies from without getting ripped off.
Always greatful for any advice.
Yorkie

Re: Types of Buzzers

Hi
try Selectafly, used to use them a fair amount before i started tying my own flies, never had a problem with them.
http://www.selectafly.com/
I like to fish buzzers(no expert however)and to be honest i have had fish on them all year round to one degree or another and to all sizes and colour combo's
AS LONG AS IT WAS BLACK
Guess the smaller sizes for June onwards but no hard and fast rules.I do like black and gold or silver ribbed versions and also red arsed versions,BUT that is purely a personal thing. At one of my waters the manager recomends small flies,ie 14/16's,but i seem to have more fish on size 10 or 12 buzzers than the smaller sizes!!!!.As with lures,if the fish are having it they will almost take anything chucked infront of em

Re: Types of Buzzers

I know that this is a bit late but i have an idea for you to try in the better months of the year that really is a bit of a mix between buzzer fishing and dry fly.
Try to get your hands on some CDC Buzzers, use a bit of sink-ant (orvis mud) on your leader and you can also coat the CDC tip of the buzzer with float-ant, this will keep the CDC high in the water for better viability.

The better days to try this is when the fish are active near to the surface on those days of lower light and a slight wind. When the trout are on these you really can bag up with this method.
