Smile Fly box for £1.00

I was in pound stretchers in Ayr yesterday, and I saw this. It`s a case for the DS games console and I thought hmm.

I cut out the webbing and straps inside, until I was left with this.

I had some adhesive backed ethafoam in my tying box and cut it to fit inside

and there you have it, a good sized fly box for a £1.00.

OK ain`t it?

Peter

Re: Fly box for £1.00

Not bad at all Peter - ideal fly box. Surprising what u can pick up in poundstretchers - I usually buy their floats (the clear ones with red top) as the kids use them, and doesnt matter if they get lost, bent, or stood on! Also Peter, next time you are down that way, try the big car boot sale/market by Ayr racecourse as its quite a large one, though I aint sure which days it is on - I go there when I come up to visit mother in Irvine and pick up a couple of fishing bargains now and again.

Re: Fly box for £1.00

I used to get their hooks(barbless), they were ideal for tying nymphs. They don`t seem to stock them anymore though.

Great idea.. I managed to adapt some gun cleaning kit boxes as used by the British army. Just don't tell the MOD (Swords to plowshares & all that ) Nice Damsel flie's. Did you tie those?

Smile Re: Fly box for £1.00

Hi GH, nice idea with the boxes, probably better than a lot of the fly boxes on the market just now. The damsels were something I tried about a month ago, but I wasn`t happy with the result and only used them as a demo for the box, but thanks for your comment though.

Re: Fly box for £1.00

Yip I like it too.

I baught some old tin boxes at a carboot a while back, cleaned it and stuck good fly-foam (?) in them. They work a treat and I have had some good comments on them.

Credit Crunch hey....
