| Re: Casting Help ??? Don't put too much emphasis on the distance of your cast, it's far more important IMO to make sure you concentrate on a delicate presentation. The best way to improve your casting is to find a qualified instructor near you, reading these things in a book or online doesn't really help make it any easier but its more to do with timing than power. Don't forget that practice makes perfect so get out in a field or anywhere with enough space using an old fly with the hook snipped off and keep trying. |

| Re: Casting Help ??? The first thing you must do is get it into your head that you are NOT casting a fly. The fly is far too light to be cast in the way of say a lead or a spinner. What you ARE casting is the line, the fly goes along for a ride. The line is a long elongated weight that must be set up by the back cast for the forward cast. You are not going to cast any distance until you can throw the line forward from a position behind you where the line is straight. The back cast is most important, without a good backcast, you cannot make a good forward cast. But the only way to learn is with a professional instructor |
