I have some artificial bread for my fly rod but I cant get a carp to take it because im not sure how to use it whether hair rigging or hooking because the hook hangs down in the water and i think this may be spooking them

You won't know unless you try mate. Put it in amongst a handfull of floating pellets. Good luck...

Re: Fly Fishing For Carp

The best baits by far are sweet corn and simple bread dough. The bread dough is made by moistening a few slices of any kind of bread with water and kneading it until it becomes the right texture to put on a hook. If you use too much water so that it becomes soggy, just add flour and continue to knead until it looks and feels right. Some anglers like to experiment by adding their secret flavorings to the dough. Some of the well known ones are, vanilla, anise oil, peanut butter, maple syrup and my favorite, strawberry

But thats not fly fishing! Firstly a carp will not take your fly if it does not appear lifelike Carp will slide up to your fly and watch it if it stays still they will lose interest and swim away just like a wary browny. Give your fly a small twitch maybee two and 9 times out of ten the carp will inhale the fly in slow motion
