anyone fishing for tench yet

was out with the dog and seen a couple of guys at my local canal fishing for tench apparently he caught one about 2lb just wondering anyone else fishing for them yet

Hi RabG, where on the canal do you fish for tench? We started fishing on the canal when the rivers were out of action last season. Fished mostly up Torrance and kirkie way, but also had some excellent perch fishing, between Partick basin and Maryhill and Westerton too.

A bit too early for Tench down here Rab.

I won't be fishing for them untill the middle of March unless it gets a lot milder before then.

I will be fishing for large Roach, Chub, Dace and Barbel on moving waters untill then; with the odd day after Carp on my local estate lake which is sheltered from the cold winds by surrounding woodland.

Us southern softies are not all as hardy as you scots

yeah im mostly a torrance man myself where you from

Right in the city centre, 5 mins walk to Argyle St. 2 mins walk to Sauchiehall St. and George Sq. My Mate and I fish every Fri. afternoon/evening after work, usually fly fishing for trout, but if the rivers (we fish the Kelvin and the White Cart) are out of action, we fish the canal.

Love pole fishing on the canal, I have a 5 metre telescopic folds down to 20 inches, ideal for the canal. Usually fish below the bridge on Torrance Rd, also fished the Kelvin up from the bridge before the roundabout too, some nice pools along that stretch.
