| Re: tench bait You could try a lively redworm or a piece of fresh breadflake or soft sweetcorn on a sharp size 14 hook. or a couple of fresh caster mounted on a size 16 hook and a 3lb to 4lb hooklength presented a few inches overdepth. If the Tench run large than you might want to up the breaking strains but casting a waggler will then get harder especially at distance. Alternatively you could try a light sliding leger with a 12 to 18 inch hooklength. Tench have small red eyes that are very sensitive to light so try fishing the bottoms and sides of gulleys or along the waters edge or under overgrown trees. Once the lillies start to appear you can try fairly close to lillies. Tench usually begin their day in shallower water but once the sun gets highter they usually move into deeper water to get away from bright sunlight. Tench are not known for being avid night feeders although occasionally they break this rule; so the productive times are usually from first light till around mid morning, and again once the sun starts sinking, up to a couple of hours after dark. Best of luck __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |
