| Going for green Iam a little bored with carp so iam going on a tench hunt. fishing a lake called whitefriars, i have already had tench to 8lb by accident. I have a plan, a bit of perseverance, some nice bait and 30 hours to catch me a pb. Hopefully i will have some good pictures to follow.      |

| Re: Going for green Ground Bait for tench? Try matching the colour of your ground bait to the colour of the bait that you are using i.e red bait = red ground bait. I have found that yellow seems to pull tench, so perhaps your best bet might be sweetcorn. I, also, tend to use flavouring to go with the colour eg., Red = worm juice/ bloodworm, yellow = sweetcorn flavouring, brown = maggot juice/ halibut. I use a basic brown ground bait crumb, mixed 50/50 with van den eynde tench/ carp mixture. Then I colour the mix and flavour as necessary. There would appear to be a lot of truth in the old saying that you cannot feed enough groun bait, for tench. However, keep the balls/lumps of 'bait' small. The van den eynde tends to break up and produce a nice cloud that seems to attract tench. Hope this helps. |

| Re: Going for green Another good bait I have had a lot of luck with is small Active-8 Pellets glugged in Active-8 dip. For example on a short 3hr evening session last spring I caught 2 x 5lb'ers and a 6lb'er together with 3 other smaller Tench of 2.5lb to 4.5lb.
