where are the small ones Now at the risk of sounding a complete nutter,I have to ask one question. I have read somewhere that one does not catch small Tench because they do not feed on larger food/baits until they are round about the 1lb.mark. Now I have never caught any small ones even though I know there are plenty in the lake that I fish.I would just like to know if it is true what I have read or if I am being rolled over. ![]()

Re: where are the small ones i have been fishing for donkeys years and have caught just one baby tench,it was on a single maggot and a size 24 hook , i tend to think they feed on tiny micro organisms and we dont catch them because none of our baits resembles any of their food stuffs

Re: where are the small ones The only fishery were I have caught small tench (5 - 6oz) was one near Reading where the Embassy final was once fished, we used to catch 40lb plus of Tench and Rudd from right under our rod-tips but if we cast any further out then the bites would dissapear. We needed at least 40lb to figure anywhere up with the leaders even in a small club match which was normally won with around 50lb of stunted Tench and Rudd. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now)
