I have a few good books on Tench fishing.

'Tench' by Len Head
'Catching Big Tench' by Len Arbery
'Fishing for Big Tench' by Barrie Rickards and Ray Webb.
'Catch Tench' by John Wilson

see < here > for the 'Tench Fishers' book reviews.

Re: More Tench anglers please!!!!!

I only have one book on the subject of Tench, "Tench by Len Head" printed in the 80s, but still relevant
today, a good read. it is still in print and is available from www.amazon.co.uk prices seem to vary, e-bay
may well have a copy or two.

Will always take any type pf course fishing over Carp fishing these days..A decent tench lake is the best place to be though...had 8 eith of mine over the last 2 trips...4lb upwards....best being 7lb 4oz

Re: More Tench anglers please!!!!!

I've never caught a tench before.. used to work my little socks off when I was at school to catch the tinca's but never had any luck (back then though my presentation was probably pretty bad). But I started fishing again this year, 13 years later I think I've got more patience and better equipment for the hunt so I will be aiming for my first Tench. Watch this space.

Fish the margins mate. Always a favourite haunt for tench....Where i go I rarely fish beyond a rod length out.

Re: More Tench anglers please!!!!!

Thanks JOL, Recommended bait? I've heard the worm is best for Tench, does corn still fair well?

Re: More Tench anglers please!!!!!

Gav, since i was a kid, I've always used bread flake...every tench I've caught since 'restarting' the fishing bit has also been on breadflake...corn is touted as a good bait where i go but all mine have been caught on bread....quality fresh bread is the secret...sticks to the hook alot better....I think bread flake is almost the 'forgotten bait' these days....with boilies, corn and other new baits etc etc...I think the tench are surprised when i drop it into their domain and go mad for it......;o)
