New and some help please Ok me and my mate are pretty new to fishing but we do not to bad catching perch on a float. We decided the last 2 weekends to try catch some tench. I pre baited the night before with some pellets the fishing shop gave to try and went early morning just before first light. We tried using worms, maggots, sweetcon, bread, strawberry pellets and still no joy. there where loads of bubble which in reading is an indicator that they where feeding. Could it be how we set up, i use a 12ft feeder rod, we used a float and I also tried to ledger( im not sure I set it up right but ), tied a weight to my main line and then tied on a hook length to that)Any help would be great at I'm sick of these buggers teasing me everytime, the amount of times they where just swimming around where we were fishing and not biting was unreal ![]() Any help so I can catch one would be greatthanks for reading

Re: New and some help please Tench bubbling drives everyone nuts. Try a nice juicy worm. It's also a bit early yet for the real tench action to start so don't loose heart. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: New and some help please You quite often see bubbles that size on lakes (and rivers) and they are usually down to gases just escaping from rotting vegatation etc. Tench bubbles are often called needle bubbles as you'll get a burst of very small bubbles rather than one or two. You can also watch the path the tench is taking as the bubbles will be released in a line as the fish roots head down across the bottom. You are far more likely to see these in summer as the bubbles can carpet the floor of the lake and waiting for something to dislodge them. On the whole tench are bottom feeders and respond well to the lift method of float fishing or leger. They also respond well to raking of excess weed and will feed almost as soon the worst of the deep coloured silt lifts from the water. Usually a summer fish though so this time of year you might be better of chasing something else. I'm sure you'll get even more tips if you keep plugged in to this forum. Tight lines. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk
