Tips for Tench Fishing in May

Claudia and I have just booked a weekend fish-in at the end of May at Sywell Reservoir.

What I would like to ask is does anyone have any tips about fishing this venue, and what sort of baits and rigs would you recommend.

I would normally fish a running leger, size 10 hook with a 10mm pineapple or tutti frutti boilie, or if they where being shy maybe some bread and honey. I normally only use meat type baits in winter for tench.

Thanks

Mike

Never fished there sorry but sound a great weekend. All I would say if your fishing into the dark is not to forget the margins and hemp seed to get there heads down.

Re: Tips for Tench Fishing in May

A good tench bait is red worms and corn, it also a good idea to use Red ground bait as well, something like Sensas Red Magic.

Not fished there but I'd fish the method and baits you are thinking of using, I'd use a Groundbait feeder, the bread and honey is a new one on me! Tench seem to like red baits like 10mm esterberry or strawberry boiles and red maggots, take a selection of baits to see what they want on the day. My main concern would be if they were spawning being late may

Tight lines mate

Re: Tips for Tench Fishing in May

I thought tench spawned june to august as they need a higher water temperature than carp.
