Re: tench rods?

@ fish king. thanks for that and i have to say i have had a look at the prodigy and its a lovely rod but just that little bit too expensive at the mo, but having the twin tip is a good solution. i have been watching e-bay but they are still getting very good money!

Re: tench rods?

apart from the drennan tench float rod does anyone know of any other rods made specifically for "tenching"? or have tench in the title of the rod?

Re: tench rods?

just a quick update, i did actually win the silstar rods, only to get them delivered and found that the spigot joints were so worn the top section of the rod could slide off, so they got sent back!!
im now looking at some north western 2lb tc rods, anyone had any experience's with these?

Re: tench rods?

yeah the john wilsons are ok but on the limit would be a bit shaky, my friend has the john wilson barbel quivers and they are that little bit stronger, just enough to allow you to bully a bit more!

Re: tench rods?

If the JW Avon quivers are a bit too lightweight for your Tench fishing, you could try the 12' Drennan Specialist rods which I read were primarily designed for legering (and float fishing) for the larger Tench, but are also great for other fish including double figure Carp off the surface. I have one of these which I use for Tench and surface fishing for Carp up to around 18lb-20lb;
The 12' Drennan Specialist like the JWilson Avon Quiver has a Test Curve of 1.25lb but it uses a double tapered blank which gives you a 2lb Test Curve further down the tip on the quality woven carbon blank. But my favourites would probably be the Greys Prodigy rods which you can pickup for around £90 to £100 if you search on the web.
