worm?

hi. just need a bit of advice as after looking through loads of sites i found that worm was supposed to be a good bait for tench. anyway on sturday i went fishing for tench with the worm with it fished under a loaded peacock float on the bootom of the lake all i caught were about 25 perch. anyone got a pic of a rig or can someone point me in the right direction. all my tench ive ever had have been on meat or maggot. i did get a bite when i switched to meat which pulled my rod into the water(managed to grab it) and when i started bringing it in it snapped me.i was using 4lb line so i dont know what it is.any help with bait and rigs. also theres quite a lot of crucians in the lake so id like a go at targeting them so again any help. cheers

Re: worm?

i reckon bread is the most underestimated bait there is so many different species you can catch with bread and tench is one of them!

dave has hit the nail on the head, bread is a superb tench bait mate, you will catch tench with worm but if perch are present it makes life difficult,if eels are present ? forget it !!

dont forget one of the old favourites, sweetcorn, that catches loads of large tench every year

Re: worm?

Try to spread some honey onto the bread and squeeze it round your hook...tench are well known for having a 'sweet tooth'

Flatfish will become famous soon enough
Re: worm?

My best ways to catch tench are:

Loaf of Bread meshed up with a little bit of hemp and Corn in a bucket soak for 1/2 hour and make about 3 balls of ground bait and fish Paste on the hook or just Bread Paste

Or try small pva bags with pellets and fish with a small hair rig with a pellet on

and of course Sweetcorn , but try to dye a few bits a differnt coulour

Re: worm?

Ive found 10mm yellow boilies very good, using size 10 or 12 Korum hair rigs. Float or feeder.
