we call the blenny a blenny

and the scorpion fish a bullhead down this way

its funny to see new anglers and somtimes old anglers catch bullheads(scorpion fish) down ere cause they alway presume they are weavers!! nothing like a weaver if you ask me.

Too true, we had exactly the same thing on Saturday at the Deal Pier meet. A large Sea Scorpion (really pretty one) came up and I could hear them all yacking on about it being a Weever - "don't touch that mate, etc, etc", so I went and unhooked it for them with a rag before it got stood on.

As far as I'm aware Weevers are very rare, in fact I'm not sure I've even ever seen one. Seen plenty of poor old sea scorpions getting damaged though, just in case they have poisonous spikes. Let's give 'em a break lads!!

Cheers,
JB.

Re: Shanny Blenny...?

I also meant to say, surely for the species race, they should be classified as what they are?

Paul and I are intending to catch a whole load of mini-species in the Summer, including Sea Scorpions, Blennies (several species thereof) and Shannies. After all, that's half the fun, isn't it?

If this is being discussed elsewhere, then my apologies are due!

Cheers,
JB.
