Re: Teignmouth flounder comp 2006

well we have just had the torbay sea angling festival for the past 10 days and as far as im aware only 2 fish have been brought to the scales from the river teign... both of them were mullet... however on saying that there isnt many anglers that will target flounder in the teign this month but usually there is a few who try the river to win the best flounder from teign prize!

best fish in the festival so far ( it finishes 7:59pm sunday) is a black bream of 6lb 2oz from wreck which is taking the best fish overall i believe from shore its a conger 36lb 2oz (weighed in tonight apparantly) and if not its a bull huss of 11lbs.. whatever they are all 180+% of specimen ratings which means i now need to get a grey mullet of 7lb 12oz or more.... hmm i think not! good luck in the flounder championships!

Thanks Dave ,fished the boat both days of the festival last year, not so much as a touch, all 3 of us ?
Other team members from The Cockett Inn club Swansea, fished the shore ,most of whom weighed in made top 10 places?
I ,beleive last year was one of the worst recorded catches in past years,so the local lads were saying?
Hoping too fish the boat again this year ? spoke too K.Tapper this morn, hes coming back to me with info/prices later in week? P.S.keep us informed if you hear any news on the Teign/flounder fishing.
Tight lines Dave ,Thanks Phil Swansea

Hey Phil,
Don't know how much you know of the Teign flounders so sorry if you already know this. They love peeler crab, the locals use nothing else. However, just outside the mouth of the river I've had quite large flounder on live sandeel.....not a lot of use as it's banned inside the river but just maybe a dead sandeel might work?
Cheers. Jules.

Re: Teignmouth flounder comp 2006

Hello, I havent been on here for a while, but have managed to get a few days fishing on my doorstep (teign), been surprised by the amount of flatties i have caught whilst fishing for other species. I have had 3 this week, granted not very big but still flounders.

Having the festival on Dec 3rd, im sure the fishing wont be as bad as last yr, but the peelers are in the river so im sure the fish will follow.
