Port Isaac, Cornwall

First time in the forum!

Are there any good shore/pier/jetty fishing spots in or around Port Isaac in Cornwall?

Also, what type of fish are in the area now (May/June) and what rigs/baits work best.

Cool Re: Port Isaac, Cornwall

Welcom to the Forum ian

I don't know your area but there are a few guys from Cornwall around on the forum, they should be along soon.

I would imagine that Mackerel. Pollack , and Garfish are around from the jetties and piers.

Re: Port Isaac, Cornwall

Update on fishing in the Port Isaac area of North Cornwall (been on my hols and now back at work)!

Tried a Rapala lure on NE side of Polzeath bay on a rising PM tide - blanked!

Tried the Rapala at the same place on an evening high tide - blanked!

Tried lig worm on a single Paternoster from NW side of Newquay bay (just above the harbour) on a rising tide - blanked!

Changed to feathers to try for mackerel at same spot in Newquay - blanked!

Tried Rapala and Charlie (?) lures at NE side of Damar Bay on a rising tide in a howling gale - blanked!

Gave up with the rod and line and went out on a mackerel trip with 'Whinnie the Pooh' from Port Isaac harbour (Friday 17th at 2pm at high tide) - you guessed it - blanked! (but my wife caught eight!)

Rod, reel and asorted tackle for sale!!!!!!

Re: Port Isaac, Cornwall

SORRY -----I DIDNT REALISE I WAS IN A COMPETITION.
I WAS OFFERING PEOPLE/PERSONS TO ENJOY THE NORTH CORNWALL COAST WITH A 'HUMBLE' -YACHTMASTER/FISHERMAN/DIVE INSTRUCTOR.
WHOM- RESPECTS ,THE SEA-WORLWIDE.
NOT PLUNDERING THE LIKE-AS IT WOULD APPEAR YOU DO.
WHEN WILL PEOPLE LIKE YOU ---LEARN.?/////??????
YOU CANT ALWAYS TAKE...THE BARREL WILL NOT ALWAYS BE FULL.

I DO HOPE THIS SITE SUPPORTS-CATCH & RELEASE.

NOT EXPLOITATION
-PLAY THE GAME 'SON' AND THEN THE FUTURE GENERATION CAN BENIFIT FROM OUR WONDERFULL SEAS.

that's nowhere near Port Isaac its at least an hour away perhaps next time i goto Cornwall i will go a bit later and futher down so i to can plunder the sea yeh as if i'd be lucky to catch 1. How big were the bass you caught i know you can catch them like that down there, my mate went to St Ives last year and caught quite a few but not that many thats great i wish i was there i've never even had 1 before
