Re: Best catches in and near Torbay

chubb if sandeels are hard to get hold of for you what with transport etc get yourself a hand net and get down the rockpool and catch some prawns ...not little tiny ones the big ones darkness is best for prawning but you should be able to get enough for a trip fishing if you know where too look for them.

float fish a live prawn for a rock mark and you will catch bass

where is best for shrimp?

PS-i put old mackerel in a drop net to get shrimps off the breakwater, any better strategies will be greatly appreciated!

PPS- what time of year do the shrimps come back, they seemed to have buggered off for the winter!

A Better Method Is To Drag Your Dropnet Across The Sea Wall At High Tide, Your Get Hndreds In A Couple Of Sweeps.
No Good This Time Of Year Though, theres None There...i Tried The Other Week.

do you mean just letting the dropnet hit the bottom and dragging it along the bottom, on the inside or the outside?
i usually drop the net down off that little jetty by the lifeboat.
still if you say it works, i'll try it.
cheers
