portland harbour

hi everyone im new to this forum this is my first post
can anyone help me i am thinking of taking my dinghy with a 4 hp outboard to portland harbour has anybody got any marks or tips please
i will allso try to fish the bridging camp

Welcome to the Forum Bass Plugger. There are some good wrecks within Portland harbour that are worth fishing over. You may find this link interesting:


I've only fished over the wreck of the Hood which is sunk in the far Harbour entrance & the Spaniard which is close to the breakwater wall. Species wise, expect Pollack, Wrasse, Black Bream, and the occasional Conger. If you are luck, you may even get one of the rare Red Band fish, of which there is a small colony in the Harbour.
I believe the only other known colonie's are by Lundy Island & in Scapa Flow Scotland. Good luck.

I have it on good authority from several professional bass fishermen that the best spot to fish is.....sorry, I can't tell on a public forum but I do know where to find them and the best method to catch them.
