Hi Dave, As Proffessor Admin found out today from the shore the tide here runs through at one hell of a lick... Springs it will run 6-8 knots. We had a Westerlie today (blows up the Channel) and the tide was pushed in even harder. The lauch site at the marina is ok but its a steep gravel based slip... u will need 4x4 to retrieve u and boat back up. Lock fee circa £14 and they have specific times of lock ins and outs best to phone em. Westerlies mate, don't go out there in more than 12mph, when wind is against the tide which with a westerlie, is on the ebb watch out, big swell gets up and white horse appear and then it gets rough!! Get yourself an admiralty chart that shows Clevedon to Aust that about covers the fishing areas. When tide goes out, reefs and sandbanks appear from nowhere... This year one boat was high and dry for quite a while... they said they were enjoying the sun on their deck chairs!! Mnimum 250-300 feet of anchor rope plus chain, don't try and fish mid channel on a highish tide, you won't hold bottom for long, best tides circa 10.5- 11.5 metres. Hope this helps. | Sorry forgot to add.... Fish 2 hours up and maybe 1 over... If the tide is running, cast well up from you circa 30-40yards and let the lead hit bottom then release slack line until the line is either in front of you or just past you. This is like uptiding from the shore!! Have fun and catch well. Cheers Shaun __________________ Eventually all things merge into one, and a River runs through it. You and me both Tommy. I hope it's a better season than it was last year... loads of hours put in not too many fish... perhaps we should sink the pair trawlers before they net the Irish Box spawning grounds!! We must have a meet this side of the bridge with Proffessor Admin and you and Juan maybe. I can't find my visa for the bridge!!
