Smile Re: Bristol / Cardiff sea fishing area

Looking to fish more out in the Bristol Channel Welsh side or Bristol side from shore and Boat.

Aim to catch any fish in the sea.

There is a charter boat out of Portishead now called Wild Blue (I think) maybe worth finding out a bit more?

Cheers
Shaun

Re: Bristol / Cardiff sea fishing area

HI I'm totally new to this forum today so please be gentle with me!

I have been sea fishing for a year now with my boyfriend (yes I'm another lady fisherwoman!) I've caught the fishing bug and now seem to spend every spare hour either on Portishead pier (incl xmas and newyears) contemplating my fishy madness or taking weekend fishing trips to devon or cornwall.

We love fishing but can feel a bit intimidated by other fishermen on occasions especially due to our lack of experience and inferior tackle (we definately budget fish) so it would be great to meet more friendly people from the area that like good company whilst they fish and don't mind imparting their knowledge with us as we are eager to learn and improve our tecniques.

So please let us know if you fish in the area (Bristolish - Westonish) and fancy a bit of an expedition also does anyone know any good winter fishing sites for dogfish in the area?

Cool Re: Bristol / Cardiff sea fishing area

Hi and welcome again Huss(Y)

We are all friendly here cos were all fishing peeps!

I fish the Bristol Channel a lot and have fished down as far as Lilstock reefs from the shore, but I tend to stay up channel as the species is more varied throughout the year.

If you want to catch Dogfish you need to find cleaner water, although they have been caught from boats futher out.

Doggy heaven is a place called Porlock Weir...near Bossington, if you want to catch them they are there in their thousands...we caught over 100 between 6 anglers from a boat in one day...gets boring after a while though.

Anyway, try Ladye Bay as far from the madding crowd as you can get....you may be lucky and catch one there

Fish hard be safe.....

Re: Bristol / Cardiff sea fishing area

Welcome Dirty Hussy

Doreen and I are just learning about sea fishing so can't give you much advice on fishing but sure we could all have a good day together. Great that you and your boyfriend can enjoy the fishing together.

The guys on this forum are very experienced and will give you plenty of good advice and opinions.

When the weather gets a bit better come over to S Wales and share our new toy for a day; just got a boat.

Look forward to meeting up sometime

Talking Re: Bristol / Cardiff sea fishing area

lol sounds great, I've always been impressed with how friendly people that fish are (at least the ones who don't sail past and wipe our rods off the pier) :P
Sadly it seems as soon as I've joined this forum my car has been written off and hence my internet availability is severely restricted, still not to be put off, I'll still be fishing and about when I can. Ever tried lugging two people's entire fishing gear on a bus? :)
