As the seasons are a bit mucked up at the moment, anythings possible. I caught Mackeral at Newhaven in December 2004!

Re: When do the Makkies arrive at Budleigh??

Normally late April into May is when they start showing in numbers. Saw several caught at Easter last year from Berry Head but they were at range with feathers and I couldn't get them on a spinner (refuse to resort to feathers for shore fishing, they should be confined to bait gathering only IMHO). The Whitsun Bank Holiday week is my first trip of the year down there where I feel I can really guarantee mackie in numbers - if you can ever guarantee fish at all - problem then of course is everyone is after them so daytime fishing is a battle at any popular tourist locations.
