The first trip of the year and i couldnt of hoped for a better day....sun shining and no wind or rain.

The club held the first competition of the year and i thought it was time to get my new gear out and give it a go.

The planned day was to go rock climbing to a local mark down the coast where no one fishes...after climbing up and over several rock faces i managed to reach the intended mark in hope for a big wrasse.

Only fished with one rod, set up on with a paternoster, 4/0 hook and a whole peeler ready for one at least over 4lb. The first drop, bite and first fish of the year..only about 2lb so went back to grow bigger. Had a few more bites and suddenly the fish went quiet, fished for 5 hrs with nothing but nice to be out.

Back at the weigh in, several wrasse came to the scales all around the 4lb mark and all went back to fight again and a nice pollock of 18lb 13oz caught on a wreck.

After losing several sets of gear, im off to the tackle shop for round 2 in a fortnight.

Sounds hard work mate but you got out and for someone wos done sod all fishing lately sounds fantastic

That Wrasse sounds great - one of my 'wants - a big Wrasse from a 'true rock mark ... if it involves ropes & a climb - even better !

2lb wrasse is mint mate! well done only ever had them to the 2lb mark,
good one for getting out ther, only thing im bagging now the sea has flattend is rockling,
