Blue Anchor - Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas Everyone. Hope you all have a great time and Santa noticed all the strategically placed Catalogues and post it notes.

After spending much of the last week in an alchohol induced stupor I got up early to nip down to Blue Anchor for a few hours before starting to peel spuds and generally get in the way in the kitchen. I arrived just before 8am for high tide at about 9am. There were 7 others already fishing. Temperature 4 degrees and a light wind. Still felt cold though.

I fished a size 5/0 cod hook with Rag and Squid on one rod and a size 1 two hook clipped up rig with smaller Rag and Squid baits on the other. Yet again, not much happened until the tide turned then I caught a small Dogfish on the big bait and a small Thornback (about the size of a dinner plate) on the other.

Other anglers caught a few small whiting and a pout so all in all a good little session. One kind chap gave me his unused Rag so I'll have to get out again quickly (I wonder if Mrs L will mind if I leave her and her family to it tomorrow?)

Nice variety of fish Richard. Well done. I'm sure your missus won't notice if you pop down the Beach while she prepares the Turkey..... You may even have time for a second session when it's time for the washing up.
