Unhappy Clevedon report

Not a brilliant day..... My mate Pete arrived late, then we got stuck in some heavy traffic on the way to Veals Tackle shop at Bristol. We had origionally intended fishing Aust or Battery Point, but because of the tides & weather conditions & the fact that I was going to a friends birthday party in the evening, we ended up fishing a very wet & windy Clevedon Peir.

Got to the Peir at about 1pm
We were hopeful of catching some Codling, especially as the guy in Veals had told us that over 40 had been caught at a match at Aust the previous evening. We both set up a two hook flapper rig baited with Ragworm (No Lug Available) & a pennel rigged pully rig baited with Squid, cast out. And then we waited, & we waited & we waited.......... etc etc

NOT A BITE..... Pete even resorted to Praying to the ancient piscatorial gods in a effort to get a bite....

Still nothing.

We fished until 6pm when their pier closes & did'nt get a touch, not even a pouting.
A Guy fishing next to us had a stonking bite on a Squid bait but missed it & we saw one other person catch a small pout & that was it.
Still determined to catch a Codling though, so it's back to checking when the next spring tide is & we'll try Aust next time.....

Oh & I managed to break my digital camera too, so even if I had caught a cod, I would'nt have been able to get any pics.
