| Blue Anchor Sunday 1 October Decided to pop down for a couple of hours this morning. I hope there was a rescue exercise underway as two police cars with lights flashing were followed along the front by a Coastguard landrover and two small lifeboats were busy under the cliffs at the Watchet end of the front. None of the dog walkers mentioned anything later in the morning so hopefully no-one was in trouble. As usual for me, nothing very exciting to report on the catch front. One small red coloured Gurnard, that I'm sure was grunting at me while I walked down the steps to return it, and one even smaller Codling. Both caught on the same close in rod on frozen black lug tipped with Mackerel. The only other anglers appeared to be on the beach itself at the Minehead end and I couldn't tell if they caught. There was a bit of surf but hightide barely reached the wall where I was about halfway along. I hope the rest of you did better if you managed to get out. I'll try again next weekend. Lazarus     |
