Mevagissey

First things first, hello to all from a new boy.

I am going to Mevagissey towards the end of August for a week and would like some advice please.

I have started fishing the 'Yank' way, i.e. short baitcaster rods and lures. Has anybody any experience of fishing this method in the area I am heading and if so, can you give me a few pointers in the right direction?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forum Baitcaster. Fowey has some good rock fishing marks & I think Mevagissey should be good too. Probable species, Bass Pollack & Gars. Not used an American Baitcaster rod though. Good tackle shop in Mevagissey. They should know. Good luck.

Re: Mevagissey

hi baitcaster,welcome to the forum

not sure about any rock marks in mevagissey,i visited there a couple of times and there was always somebody fishing the pier,i think they were floatfishing if i remember rightly,
i did do a bit of spinning at looe not far down the coast, the banjo pier there is off limits to anglers but the rocks on the western side of the estuary are very good,

Re: Mevagissey

I'd make a day to go up to Padstow and try to get out with Ed Schillifke from the PAdstow Anging Centre for the day. He'll tell you everything you could ever need to know about fishing Cornwall.
