a big thanks to the chap who plonked himself within 20 ft uptide of where i was fishing on the rock ledges, even though there was only one other angler there, after watching your lead fly sideways i decided to moooooove further down to my second fav spot(normally my first, but her indoors was with me,and she ain't keen on rock hiking!)which produced several codling, the biggest being 3lb 5oz,which went home for tonight's tea!,so thank's again, and maybe next time you might consider wether an angler would be happy to fish so close to another,i personally prefer to give other angler's plenty of space, even if that mean's fishing a more snaggy/difficult mark,i fish by the rule of first come/first get.

Re: bristol channel..feb 07 Premium marks are always packed. You shoul dthink yourself lucky, I have been up on Pulpit rock which is only 10ft wide and I have been joined by 3 other anglers.

such marks as pulpit this sort of thing can't be helped, but when the mark is several hundred yards long with plenty of places to fish with a total of 4 anglers through out the entire length then it become's inconsiderate p***take.

| At least you caught Viper, well done mate. Where are the rock ledges, is that Layde bay? As for fishing the Pulpit, I took one look & the thought of climbing up there scared me S--tless. | I am not surprised, some people today have a very selfish attitude of "me first the rest later" That has to be a result of the social economic world we live in. I have to say that at Ladye Bay....muppets rule so I don't fish there anymore I'm tired of seeing empty squid boxes and litter around the place. My clubs rules state that if you get to your mark and there is litter within 20 yards of you, you become responsible for it regardless of whether you dropped it or not. If you don't pick it up you get banned. Simple. |

Re: bristol channel..feb 07 Now that is a very good rule Smoothy. I can't understand why people can't be bothered to bag up their rubbish and take it home. I do have to say I wish that the council would provide bins at beach car parks, it would certainly help the situation.

Re: bristol channel..feb 07 i have to agree with the pirate.. although there is a bin on the pier at torquay its never emptied and always overflowing with rubbish! where as places like hopesnose... ok where you fish from is a bit of a hike for the council man to empty the bin but a bin at the top perhaps would give ppl and insentive to carry the rubbish back up the hill and place it in a bin! its such a simple thing to do and yet by the rubbish ive seen at venues such as this it seems very few of us do it.. my problem is i take it home and the forget to empty it out of my seatbox... my seatbox has more rubbish in it than anything else!!! lol __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

Re: bristol channel..feb 07 what worried me most was the direction of his first cast, that most of all convinced me a move was in my best interest, and yes i have to agree about the rubbish,we did try and clear our swim but there's only so much 1 carrier bag will hold!,what we needed was a dozen bin bags. as for muppets,i'm afraid you'll find them every where,no doubt you've fished chesil in hi-summer,makes ladye bay look like a master class on a different note, are you suggesting that i am selfish old smoothound by my comment of 'first come, first get'?,the way i see it is thus,...if i plan to fish a particular spot only to find it occupied when i get there,i don't then plonk myself as close to it as possible,i move on down/up well away giving that angler room to fish,as he obviously put more effort into getting there early enough to secure a good mark,i put in the effort that day of a 204 mile round trip to get to that mark early, just as i put the effort into finding marks and features at low water,as opposed to expecting someone to tell me where and when they catch thier fish,or as a lot of people seem to do,haunt angling forums expecting, sometimes demanding where a person caught thier fish,i have seen this on other forums all to often. i'm sure your reference was to the other angler ![]()
