Giant Blue Fins in Lyme Bay.....yahoooo!!

I wouldn't have to jaunt over the Irish sea...naaaa i'd still go just for the crack and the beer!

It would be pretty interesting to see what does turn up in our waters this year.

I have heard lots of reports of "odd" fish being caught at odd times of the year.....perhaps some peeps on this forum may have caught or heard of one being caught in their areas. Maybe they could lets us know?

Re: Frosty Fishing - Lyme Bay

I just had a look through my fishing journal at what I had caught from the boat for the past 3 January's.

Every trip I had a Smoothound, which is very interesting as I dont normally catch more than 3 or 4 during the summer, except if I go fishing in the Solent off course.

Other fish that have been prevelant in January have been Bass (all less than 4lb).
Blonde Rays, with the smallest being 12lb.
Large Ballan Wrasse and Whiting.
All were caught out of Weymouth.

It would be a good topic for a new thread! Might even have to start some rumours about Bluefin Tuna being caught off Chesil Beach!! Watch the local tackle shops sell out of 50lb class tackle & 18inch Shads then.

I have added the photos, by attachments to the original post, as I cannot load them onto photo Gallery for some reason....says disk space not available???

Just click on them and up pops the picture.
