Re: beesands

Hi mate.

Go to Slapton instead. The beach infront of the first car park is ALIVE with Whiting............decent fish of 1lb+.............and they're taking any bait you care to chuck at them.
Casting distance isn't important, anything over 75 yards is ample.
Fish during darkness on a rising tide and you'll do well.
Doggies too are putting in an appearance when the Whiting let them get to the baits first.
Hope this helps a bit.

Good luck mate.

Re: beesands

So, what do you think Shrek ?
Is it Slapppy or Beesands? Suppose it all depends on what the weather is like. We were really lucky the other night at Minehead. We going digging or not? I gotta get a smaller fork, the one I had was a bit heavy to lift with that smelly sand on it. If we go digging lets hope that the weather holds off throwing rain, hail, snow and high winds at us this time.

No feedback about Beesands yet. Perhaps it is not a popular spot?
Gotta see if I can get a weekend pass yet !!

Re: beesands

Beesands is popular, and you can usually catch a few fish easily enough, it's just that I've not been there for a while, driving instead to Slapton, for no particular reason, call it a whim!!
The pub end is deeper than the other end, and both ends will produce equally as well as the other. Everyone has their favourite end, and mine's the end nearest Slapton. Whiting, Pout, School Bass, Pollack, Dabs, Plaice, Mackerel, Garfish, they're all caught during the year, and right now I'd target the Whiting and Doggies at night and Dabs during the day.
Bait up size 4 hooks with lug and squid, clip them down and cast them out as far as you can during clear, calm conditions for the best flattie sport, with the best night time action coming on a cloudy night. The best day time sport is over low water, whilst a rising tide is best at night. Sandeel makes a cracking Whiting bait, and seems to pick out the bigger fish, plus doggies.

Good luck!!
