| A holiday by the sea and a spot of shore fishing from the Fowey side of the river. An easy cast is from the rocks that ajoin the ferry to Polruan boarding point. I had been experimenting with various float/dead bait float/spinner when a change to a small yellow rubber lure/float set up hit the jackpot. a 3lb Gar. Casting out on the ebbing tide allowing the float to drift out about 150 metres and gently reel in BINGO. set up was as said small yellow rubber lure on a size 6 hook, 3ft of line, an ounce weight and seafloat. Don't be fooled or put off by rumours that gar are unedible after gutting and boning a light seasoning with parsley and black pepper and under the grill for 3 minutes a side....try it you'll love it |
