Can someone tell me where Redwick is - I want to try for some sole this week and heard that Redwick might be wortha go ?

Is this on the Bristol side and near seven Beach and New Passge or is it actually New Passge ?

Thanks

Re: Redwick ?

There's a Redwick somewhere near the new bridge on the English side (I think just upstream of the bridge, slightly above Severn Beach) but there is also Redwick on the Welsh side which you reach from J23 of the M4, head towards the steelworks and you will see it signposted. You need to go down a lane opposite the pub in the village a then there's a bit of a walk I think. I haven't heard any reports lately but last season a lot of sole were being caught at Goldcliffe which is just outside Newport (turn down by the velodrome and follow signs). You fish there from the sea wall so it is generally only fishable 2 hours either side of high although there are some areas off the wall where you could fish at other times. I think St. Brides Lighthouse also produces sole. Hope this helps, good luck.

Re: Redwick ?

Redwick near Newport ,has been producing sole from the boats but haven`t heard of any beach caught ones.Even from the boats its a hit and miss day,be prepared for some long waits .St Maryswell Bay,between Sully island and Lavernock point produces some good sole upto 2lb plus, with the advantage of its much easier to get to and safer to fish. You can park quite close in several places

Re: Redwick ?

Its between Penarth and Barry, near a village called Sully. You head out of Penarth towards Barry along lavernock road.as come upto Sully , turn left at a crossroads towards Swanbridge caravan park. You come to the captains wife pub ,Sully Island is in front of you and St Marys well Bay is to your left. There was an article recently in Sea Angler featuring the sole fishing at St Marys Well, the july issue i think.
