my first ever!

hi guys i went down to a rock mark today float fishing with live pout for the bass.... well hoping for the bass... none came along had a double shot of mackeral on the bottom too lug baits and then nothing on the bottom rod for the rest of the day!..my attention was fully on the float and getting something to take these live pout.. well the mackeral loved them every cast the float shot away my heart started to race and then .. nah another mackeral.. i kept at it until it was almost dark when my float shot away again i struck into what felt like a larger fish and it came towards the surface right away! (could this be the bass i was searching for?) i played the fish watching it splash around it came to the net and i realized this was no bass.. it was a john dory! i have never caught one of these before it weighed around the 3lb mark 2 guys near me had scales one guys said 3lb 8oz the other guys said 2lb 12oz so im gonna go for 3lb and leave it at that but what a pretty little fish they are and a damn good scrap on light gear!

im off fishing again tomorrow maybe this time i will find mr bass

couple of hours on slapton sands around lunch time and then the rest of the day i will spend down hopesnose i think.

Re: my first ever!

Well done Dave, sounds like great fun. How big were the pout you were using?

tiny ones actually probably 3-4 inches but they worked well ...(for the mackeral) i would love to go down the nose again tonight but dont have head torch and it could be a bit daunting in the dark so i think im going to sit down oddicome instead and play with the doggies!
