Teignmouth Fish report

Well after groundbaiting this particular mark for the last few days, i thought it is finally time to catch my first mullet of the year.

After finding the seagulls have taken most of my stash of bait and leaving me with half of one, i needed to catch some macks to carry on throughout the day.

The first half hour flew by without a knock and then 6 mackerel in a row. Soon after on went my mullet gear, after a few drifts the mullet started to lift my bait up to the surface, must of been 10 babies all around 1lb mark. The bigger fish started to follow the bait and then a boat came and moored right where i was fishing and spooked the fish away(gutted!!)

With the boat moored infront i had to fish in a small gap hoping they were still there, i didnt have one bite, but did manage to hook and lose a garfish and also a sand smelt, which i guess counts as my points.

With this happening, it is forcing me to go fishing tomorrow morning if the wind drops a bit, and i will catch one mullet even if i stand there all day!!

Nice report Luke..shame about the Mullett. Some peopl just don't care about us fishermen do they.

But you still get to go out and try again

Never seen a Sand Smelt before, do they call them "Cucumber Smelt" as well?

Good luck with the Mulletting mate. I'm off after Goldies on Sunday 1/2lb Maddies my Barbel rod and you never know what it might bring

Re: Teignmouth Fish report

Well i got up at 6am on friday and strolled down to my pre baited mark, the wind was slight but not enough to affect the fish. once i turned round the corner, i noticed the boat which moored up the previous day was still there to my disgust.

So instead of the mullet i tried the bassing out on the bar on my mates boat. It was slow but the fish were there and playing with the bait. in the end i had 8 bass with 2 being insize.

I will catch the mullet by the end of the week, as i know they are there now my patience wont be tested and i shall persevere
