Lets have a quick word about the illegal fishing going on in and around the South hams, notibly the river Yealm and Bigbury bay.
I spotted a blacked out boat with just a single red light (headlamp) making its way up river last night and was told by a local that they were there sunday night as well.Going very slow on the far shore north of the pontoons.
When we shined out spotlights on them all we got was "F..K Off".Now we all talk about illegal activities and whitness some as well, what we need to do is REPORT THEM TO THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY 0N 0800807060 , with details, times colour of boat, registration number of towing vehicle if possible.
i got an almost instant response from the local bailiff, gave him the boat (a blacked out dory) and the fact that they were known to have launched from noss near the ship pub and the 4x4 they were towing it with.Apparantly these guys not only fish illegally (nets) but they steal boats and motors as well!
Keep the environment agency informed, they DO take it further and the bailiff is in direct contact with the police.
We all need to do our part, we all know its hard enough finding the fish, good luck and tight lines.
