Sammy save's the Day!

Popped out for a couple of hours with my wee bag of plugs/soft's and spinner's when the rain stopped earlier.
Went down near Pendeen lighthouse and the swell had also dropped quite a bit but not enough so i could get right down and fish over the kelp beds at the front of the spit of rock where the pollack seem to hide so had to have a go over the mixed ground to the right.
Always prefer to fish as low as possible when using the lighter gear and topwater lures.
Started off with the slug-go's texas rigged or weedless if you prefer, nothing doing so tried some other softs in various colours and sizes, not even a touch.
Spinner's next cheapo toby's, wedges and those german sprat things which all cast pretty well on the light gear so more ground covered still nowt.
Looking pretty grim as i,m now getting rained on and splashed from the swell an my ol mate the big fat seal has turned up to say hello.
Tide had eased a bit so tried a few shallow diving plugs but no luck, so it's on with the old faithful battered and now one eyed Lucky craft sammy for a last gasp attempt to save me from the dreaded blank, after about 6 or 7 casts the trusty sammy done the business and hooked this wee schoolie.

Not sure whether to refurb the trusty sammy for next year or replace the hooks and let him carry on in that rather poor state or let him enjoy a well earned retirement in a nice wee frame on my wall lol.

Nice one Steve.
You should carry on using that lure just the way it is, its doing the job!
I went out today for a few hours wwith my boy. I have been ill all weekend and shouldnt have gone. It was hard work and I blanked. We tried two locations but it was an easterly breez over low. I diddnt have high hopes in the first place! it was nice to get out of the house though.

well done buddy cant wait to get back bassing missy is on about cornwall next year so fingers crossed is there any fishing in the st agnes area steve ??

Not the easiest bit of coastline to fish mate, better off down this way if you got your daughter with you. Hayle pool/estuary not far from there and another 20 mins to this coast

As for retirement, take him on a trip to the tackle shop so he can choose an apprentice to pass on his luck to.
Then mount and frame.

yes i know Hale well steve used to venture down there pretty neck of the woods ,,think she wants st Agnes sort of area but she can be convinced itl cost a pair of shoes or something lol

Porthtowan and Portreath are not to far away but as you probably know best avoided in the daytime during summer.
That's why i usually stick to the more remote marks down this way, nothing against tourists but i just hate going somewhere only to find there's no parking spaces left.
Are you planning a holiday or coming down if we can organise a meet next year?

missy wants a change from north wales and the broads i used to live in north devon so we know that way pretty well and round top end of cornwall, boscastle down to hale but she wont mind if i go fishing for the day st aggy isnt too far from hale

Sure we can sort out a couple of sessions mate. One of my marks for conger,huss,rockling an dogs is about a 10 minute drive from Hayle.
Wont be much room for extra shoes by the time the fishing gear is in mate lol
