Thumbs up long way to scratch an itch for 2 hours

sat at the table having dinner and couldnt get the idea that i should be fishing out my head( especially as know had 2 doz lug in fridge)

but no plan where to go, and really fancied somewhere different ( so if you blank it still feels good)

6.15 looked at tides and wind
sod it i thought i'll go up to Burnham on Mud and fish the main beach wall

1 hour later and 59 miles, i was parked up on right hand end ( as you look at sea)
down the steps and onto the sand bar
1 rod big 4/0 and 1/4 mackeral other 2 hook flapper size 4 as heard you get sole here

well nothing for the first 20 apart from a hasty retreat from sandbar as tide flooded in behind
so soon i was on the wall

then the tiniest rattle on the sole rig and this leviathon is in my hand, whoo hoo not a blank

as rebaiting thiat the other rod went off, ratchet the lot ..here we go i thought only to find this tiny dog with big ambitions

by now the tide had turned , a beach zombie had me trapped ( although fair play he did know the beach and i now know i was the wrong end as the sand bar reappeared) so i decided to start packing down to find 2 more leviathons on the sole rig

home in an hour again
so nothing big, but lots of info, lovely evening in just jeans and fleece, itch scratched, 118mile & 4 hours total.

and a pass given for piking tommorrow already

dave

Re: long way to scratch an itch for 2 hours

Well done Dave,
Good to get out amongst the fish and get some fresh air for a few hours!
Got to love the dogfish, at least they put a bend in the rod...bloody things!
All the best.
Jason

Well scratched Dave.
I like to stick to at least twice as much time spent fishing as driving though. As the young used to say..... Respect!

Re: long way to scratch an itch for 2 hours

Well done for trying somewhere new, and such a distance on spec. I will have to ry myself to get to new places rather than just going to the usual marks.

Well done

Regards

Nigel

Re: long way to scratch an itch for 2 hours

That's a very nice report Dave. By deciding to try somewhere new on the spur of the moment, you did what a lot of us often think of doing but seldom get around to actually doing it. An interesting selection of fish; next time they may be bigger!!! Kind regards. John R.
