Talking Portishead 18th Sept (Night)

Hi Fellow Fisher types

My mate Sully2010 was free last night, so we ventured to Portishead for the 23:15 tide at 11.13m.

Arrived at 21:15 and found two other worm danglers in situ. all quiet was the tale of the past 2 hours.

After setting up and casting out, we settled down for a long seesion. Had a chat with the two guys and they were from the local area, one a seaoned 20 years fisher and the other, like me was relatively a novice.

Well, they were not leaving till they caught, could be there a while I thought!

Sully was the first to pull, a small Whitting, never seen one before or caught one. About 8-9 inches long. It was put back on as bait for a conger. Cast back in and within 2 minutes a big bite, and gues what. No wire trace and bit through the lot.

Next was my turn with another whitting about 4 inches long, bless it. Thought it was a stickle back to start with.

We left at 04:00 and still, the other two had not caught. Who knows, they might be still there?

Regards

Nigel

Re: Portishead 18th Sept (Night)

You wanna use a hook length of at least 80lb nylon when you hunt conger in the Channel mate as they'll make short work of anything else

Re: Portishead 18th Sept (Night)

most dead fish baits work, they are a scavenger fish, anything edible they will take.
ref wire trace, dont forget the metal crimps.
